Charlotte Pride to host Prides of the Southeast (POSE) conference in April 2015

Educational conference will draw LGBTQ Pride organizers from 12 states

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Pride will host the Prides of the Southeast (POSE) conference, a regional gathering of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) Pride organizers from 12 southeastern states, in the Queen City, April 16-19, 2015.

“Charlotte Pride is excited to host our first educational conference for InterPride, the largest association for organizers of Pride events worldwide,” says Craig Hopkins, Charlotte Pride co-director and conference coordinator. “We’re thrilled to welcome our visitors to Charlotte and introduce them to all the great things our hometown has to offer and which have enabled all the successes we’ve experienced during Charlotte Pride’s own phenomenal growth over the past few years.”

The conference is expected to draw attendees from across the Southeast comprising InterPride’s Region 5: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia.

Regional conferences provide InterPride delegates and member organizations an opportunity to network with other Pride people from their general geography and learn about ways to improve their Pride festivals and events. They also provide the host delegation with a tourism opportunity to showcase their town for the weekend.

“Conferences like POSE are incredibly important to Charlotte,” says Charlotte Regional Visitors Authority Director of Communications Laura White. “We know that its attendees will quickly find that we have a thriving cityscape that’s only bested by our welcoming southern hospitality. Our LGBTQ community is a point of pride for the city and we look forward to sharing the best practices and event successes that continue to engage thousands of visitors and residents annually.”

InterPride represents over 170 Pride organizations producing events ranging from marches to other celebrations throughout the world. Charlotte Pride has been a member of InterPride Region 5 for the past two years.

Registration for the conference is open at charlottepride.org/pose/. Early bird registration begins at $150 through Dec. 31, 2014. All registrations include conference fees, educational materials, group outings and some meals. The Aloft Charlotte Uptown at the EpiCentre is the event’s host hotel. Group rate rooms at $129 per night (Wi-Fi included) can be booked through the conference website.
