Charlotte Pride hosts Charlotte Trans Job Fair
Tuesday, August 13, 2019, 11am-3pm
Goodwill Opportunity Campus
Event is believed to be first focused job fair featuring transgender-affirming employers in Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte Pride, the local non-profit which produces the annual Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade, among other programs throughout the year, will host its Charlotte Trans Pride Job Fair today, Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2019, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Goodwill Opportunity Campus, 5301 Wilkinson Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28208.

The Charlotte Trans Pride Job Fair is believed to be the first time Charlotte employers have come together for a job fair to offer specific outreach to transgender community members. Trans people face disproportionate levels of unemployment and under-employment due to gender discrimination.

The event is presented in partnership with Bank of America, which will participate in the job fair. Other local employers planning to participate at today’s event include: American Airlines, Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools, FedEx, Goodwill, JetStream, Microsoft, Novant Health, Synchrony, Turner Construction Company and Central Piedmont Community College’s “Year Up” program.

Media are invited to attend and cover the event.

The Charlotte Trans Pride Job Fair will be followed later in the evening by the Charlotte Trans Pride Mixer, 6-9 p.m., at Resident Culture, 2101 Central Ave, Charlotte, NC 28205, in Plaza Midwood.

The two events are among many community activities occurring during this Charlotte Pride Week in the lead up to this weekend’s Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade, Aug. 17-18, in Uptown.
