Upcoming events to celebrate Juneteenth and round out Pride Month

Charlotte’s big Pride activities with Charlotte Black Pride and Charlotte Pride are starting in next month and running through November. But June is Pride Month! And as it rolls to a close in a couple of weeks, there’s still plenty of time to start the celebration now and keep it rolling for months to come! We’ve gathered a few upcoming Pride-filled events, as well as some local Juneteenth celebrations, now through the end of the month. Mark your calendars!

PFLAG Charlotte’s Pride & Purpose

Thursday, June 17, 7-8pm

Join PFLAG Charlotte for their signature virtual fundraiser featuring remarks from emcee Kristen Hampton and PFLAG national executive director Brian Bond, as well as performances from the Gay Men’s Chorus of Charlotte, One Voice Chorus, Playing for Others, and Charlotte Pride Band.

Juneteenth Celebration of the Carolinas

Thursday, June 17-Sunday, June 20

A free, multicultural celebration now in its 24th year takes over parts of Plaza Midwood for a multi-day celebration of Juneteenth. The event includes a Juneteenth Freedom and Unity March on Saturday, June 19, meeting at the Grady Cole Center at 9 a.m. and marching at 10 a.m. toward House of Africa, 1215 Thomas Ave., in Plaza Midwood.

Fort Mill Pride March

Friday, June 18, 3-6pm

Youth activists with @youractivistfriends in Fort Mill are planning a Pride March. Join them for a meet-up at 3 p.m. at Walter Elisha Park, 345 N. White St., Fort Mill, SC 29715. Once everyone gathers, the march will take off toward The Peach Stand and return back to Walter Elisha Park.

Statesville Pride Gathering and March

Sunday, June 20, 2 p.m.

Community members in nearby Statesville, just a short drive up I-77 from Charlotte, will gather for their first-ever Pride March. Meet at Mitchell Community College at 2 p.m. to get flags, water, snacks, interact with drag queens, and more, before heading out for the march.

Rock Hill Pride Festival

Thursday, June 24-Sunday, June 27

Copper Dwelling & Design Mercantile transforms its usual Makers Market into a weekend-long Pride celebration. On Friday, catch the new Rock Hill Pride Pageant, then join the Pride Makers Market on Saturday before heading out several meet-ups and parties that evening.

Charlotte Pride + TOY Family Movie Night

Friday, June 25, 8 p.m.

A perfect family- and kid-friendly way to celebrate Pride Month! Gather with your family at 1900 The Plaza, Charlotte, NC 28205, for a double-feature screening of COCO and INSIDE OUT. The event is free but registration is required. Concessions, including popcorn, candy, soda, and water, will be available for purchase. This is an outdoor, alcohol-free screening.

Sunday, June 27, 4-7 p.m.
