Chart-topping Hip-Hop recording artist Trina to headline 2012 Pride Charlotte Festival
Trina to perform for the masses in Uptown Charlotte on Aug. 25, 2012
Award-winning, chart-topping Hip-Hop recording artist Trina will headline this year’s 2012 Pride Charlotte Festival in Uptown Charlotte, Aug. 25-26, 2012, organizers announced on March 7.
Trina, known to many as Miami’s own “Diamond Princess,” has released five studio albums nationally as of Summer 2010, featuring fellow stars like Missy Elliott, Keyshia Cole, Dre, Lil’ Wayne, Kelly Roland, Snoop Dog and more. She is currently working on a sixth studio album. Having sold over two million records worldwide, Trina has proven herself a successful business woman with over a decade of success. Her newest album, “Amazin,” including features from Diddy, Keri Hilson, Monica, Nicki Minaj, Lye Jennings, Lady Saw and more, was released in early Summer 2010. It reached #1 on Billboard’s Independent Album charts and #2 on Billboard’s Rap Album charts upon it release worldwide.
Trina will take Pride Charlotte’s Uptown stages the night of Aug. 25, 2012, headlining what organizers say will be the largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community Pride festival Charlotte and the Carolinas has ever seen. The events come just one week prior to Charlotte’s hosting of the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
“We couldn’t be more excited for Trina’s headlining performance at the Queen City’s our annual Pride Charlotte Festival,” said Jonathan Hill, Pride Charlotte entertainment chair. “As headliner, Trina’s lyrical artistry and her star power will be the highlight of two full days of local, regional and national entertainment and community empowerment, celebrating the strength and diversity of Charlotte’s LGBT community.”
Pride Charlotte hosted its sixth annual festivities on Aug. 27, 2011, attracting some 27,000-plus attendees. The 2012 Pride Charlotte Festival is slated to expand to two full days along S. Tryon St. between 3rd and Stonewall Sts., with headliner Trina taking the coveted Saturday evening main stage slot. Festival hours and other details have yet to be announced.
