Below you will find a list of specific team coordinator roles which comprise either the Charlotte Pride Programs Team or the Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade Team. Each role has certain responsibilities and tasks related to their specific area of responsibility. Charlotte PRide Festival & Parade Team

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer:  A person comfortable working with people from diverse and varying backgrounds and viewpoints. This person has a passion for intentional, people-focused work and is comfortable guiding and mentoring new and up-and-coming leaders. This person has the time and energy to commit to a long-term volunteer role. 

Description:  The Volunteer Coordinator(s) will work with the Charlotte Pride board and staff to develop active, thoughtful community outreach to further expand the volunteer network of Charlotte Pride. This coordinator(s) will complete outreach activities to possible partner organizations, develop volunteer events and socials, and ensure proper orientation and follow-up with new volunteers. This is an important, year-round role allowing our organization to grow and expand with the addition of new volunteers, leaders, ideas and opinions. This coordinator is expected to attend and help identify volunteers for all major events of the organization and connect interested individuals to appropriate volunteer opportunities which match their interests and skills. 

VIP COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: An individual comfortable liaising with business and professional partners, passionate about fundraising, and attentive to hospitality work. This individual will be excited to execute an exclusive unique experience for our VIP guests. 

Description: The VIP Coordinator is tasked with planning, overseeing and managing all the components of the Charlotte Pride VIP Experience. This coordinator will oversee a committee of volunteers who will work with staff to ensure all deliverables and deadlines are met, in compliance with the requests and requirements of the VIP Experience presenting sponsor, Operations and Entertainment Teams, and VIP lounge host space. Essential areas of oversight and tasks, in tandem with Charlotte Pride staff, include coordination of VIP lounge set-up and clean-up, VIP catering, beverage service, gift bags, ticketing, and marketing. 

FESTIVAL ZONE COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: A person with extraordinary attention to detail and comfortable with managing large databases with a variety of shifting elements. This individual needs to have the ability to set a regular schedule of hours with the Charlotte Pride team for applicant evaluation and must treat all applicants in a fair, courteous manner. 

Description: This Coordinator role will involve working closely with Charlotte Pride staff to evaluate, organize, and select vendors for the Charlotte Pride festival. This Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for all vendor questions and concerns, will communicate regular updates with applicants and approved vendors, and work with the Operations Team to develop the festival map. Additionally, this volunteer will assist in the development of new and improved check-in/check-out processes for vendors. 

PARADE COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: An individual who is willing to go above and beyond in a volunteer role, with an attentive, professional work ethic, who enjoys rising to challenge, and finding solutions to complex and logistical obstacles. This person relishes the opportunity to create something exciting, engaging, and sustainable for our community, while understanding and valuing the intensive time commitment that it will take to oversee the operational, logistical, and creative components of the Charlotte Pride Parade. As a key volunteer position, this individual is expected to have a professional or educational background that is relevant to the coordination of large-scale event planning and management. 

Description: The Parade Coordinator will be tasked with managing the parade line-up, parade staging, and outreach to parade participants. In coordination with staff, this coordinator will assist in the creation of the parade guide and playbook, including development of best practices for parade check-in and staging, participant organization and line-up. This coordinator will also assist staff in developing new best practices for the management of the parade grandstand. Additionally, this individual will oversee a committee of volunteers tasked with helping to plan and execute the parade, with a focus on parade staging, parade route crowd control and management of the de-staging area. 

ARTS & CULTURE / FLOURISH COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: A sociable individual who has connections or is willing to put in the work to develop connections with artistic, cultural, academic, and performance organizations in Charlotte and the surrounding areas. This person is willing to develop community audition events to identify talent for Flourish and entertainment stages at the festival and complete outreach to potential participants in a timely, proactive manner. 

Description: The Flourish Coordinator will be working with local entertainers, performers and arts and culture groups to develop a line-up of interesting, unique talent and content to showcase inside of the Bechtler Museum during the Charlotte Pride. This coordinator needs to have relationships with arts and cultural organizations throughout the community, a passion for artistic and cultural performance and education, and the ability to courteously manage volunteers and participants leading up to and during the event. 

PRIDE WEEK EVENTS COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: Hyper-organized person with a talent for balancing a variety of details, including dates, schedules, and locations for several events. This person should have experience coordinating and planning events and be comfortable in a team environment. 

Description: The Events Coordinator is tasked with helping craft and organize events during the lead-up to Charlotte Pride’s festival and parade. This coordinator will work closely with staff and the planning team to oversee currently scheduled programming and develop new events. The coordinator will also outreach to and serve as the main point of contact for community organizations and businesses to recruit new and continuing participation in Pride Week. The coordinator will assist in the compilation of the final Pride Week calendar. 

MAIN STAGE ENTERTAINMENT COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: Detail-oriented individual who has experience or passion for showcasing LGBTQ and allied talents from the stages of Charlotte Pride. This person is comfortable, and confident in developing and coordinating other volunteers, maintaining and enforcing tight stage schedules, and professionally managing artists and entertainers. 

Description: Our Entertainment Team Coordinator will be responsible for working with the board president and staff to coordinate local and national entertainers for the stages of Charlotte Pride. This Coordinator will be expected to assist in the development of the stage guides, run of show documents, and act as stage manager for the main stage of Charlotte Pride throughout the weekend of the festival and parade. This coordinator will also work with staff and the VIP team to coordinate entertainment and meet and greet schedules in the VIP lounge. 

COMMUNITY STAGE COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: Detail-oriented individual who has experience or passion for showcasing LGBTQ and allied talents from the stages of Charlotte Pride. This person is comfortable, and confident in developing and coordinating other volunteers, maintaining and enforcing tight stage schedules, and professionally managing artists and entertainers. 

Description: The Community & Karaoke Stage Coordinator will work with the Entertainment Team to identify, plan and schedule artists and entertainers for both the Community and Karaoke Stages at the Charlotte Pride Festival. This individual will also function as the Community Stage Manager, and is expected to oversee artists, DJs, and entertainers at the Community and Karaoke Stages during the event. 

FAMILY & YOUTH COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer: A person comfortable working with people from diverse and varying backgrounds and viewpoints. This person has a passion for intentional, people-focused work and is comfortable guiding and mentoring new and up-and-coming leaders. This person has the time and energy to commit to a long-term volunteer role. This person has a passion for youth and including their voices in the work of Charlotte Pride. 

Description: The Family and Youth Coordinator will work with the Charlotte Pride board and staff to create insightful, inclusive programming that expands the reach and network for young members of our LGBTQ community. Through partnerships with existing organizations, this role will work to create more opportunity for young folks in longstanding Charlotte Pride programs, develop new events, and work to make youth feel include in the festival and parade. 


Charlotte Pride Programs Team

The following are a few long-time coordinator positions contained within the Charlotte Pride Programs Team, but these are not all of the leadership opportunities available! Because programs, projects, events, and activities are unfolding and in development all the time, there are leadership and volunteer opportunities throughout the year — many of them project- or event-specific — not listed here, including opportunities for leading, planning, and assisting with a variety of educational and social programs, as well as programs designed to serve various identities within our larger LGBTQ community. 

Reel Out Charlotte Coordinators

Ideal volunteer: An individual who is passionate about film and its power as an art form to share stories and create conversation, is an excellent and detail-oriented planner, and has an interest in highlighting independent filmmakers.

Description: Various coordinators will help plan, promote, and executive Reel Out Charlotte, The Queen City’s Annual LGBTQ Film Festival. Specific film festival coordinator positions include:

  • Film Festival Programmer — The Film Festival Programmer(s) will work closely with board and staff to research and select the feature and short films included in the 2020 Reel Out Charlotte lineup. This Programmer(s) will look into similar film festival line-ups, up-and-coming LGBTQ filmmakers, and additional outlets. This Programmer(s) will need to have an intersectional, inclusive approach to films selected, ensuring a diverse array of LGBTQ faces and stories appear on screen at Reel Out Charlotte.
  • Short Film Coordinator — The Short Film Coordinator will work with the Reel Out Charlotte online platform to view, organize, and select short films for review by the Reel Out Team at large. This Coordinator will handle outreach to selected short recipient and work to create unique opportunities within the lineup.

In addition to the film festival itself, Reel Out Charlotte coordinators will assist with special Reel Out Charlotte-branded film screenings and events throughout the year. All coordinators and other volunteer leaders also assist with staffing the film festival, performing tasks related to ticket sales and the box office, concessions, and event set-up and tear-down.

INTERFAITH Programs COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer:  An individual passionate about the role of LGBTQ-inclusive and -affirming faith communities in the greater Charlotte community. This person values and respects the various faith traditions without prejudice and prioritizes the contributions of often underrepresented religious and ethnic communities. 

Description:  The Interfaith Coordinator is tasked with planning each year’s Charlotte Pride Interfaith Service, including coordination with staff on identifying a host congregation, marketing needs, and programmatic development. This person will also oversee a committee of volunteers and prioritize intentional outreach to underrepresented faith groups (e.g., Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist and others). In addition to the Interfaith Service, this individual will also coordinate other events throughout the year — ideally, once-quarterly or with higher frequency— either hosted by Charlotte Pride or in partnership with other community organizations. 

Drag Programs Coordinator

Ideal Volunteer: A person with a passion for drag performance, art, and entertainment, understands drag’s role as a force for good and change, and has a keen eye for creative event and outreach planning.

Description: The Drag Coordinator will work with fellow coordinators from each year’s Charlotte Pride Drag Court to help plan, promote, and execute each year’s Charlotte Pride Drag Pageant, as well as other events throughout the year. The Drag Team’s coordinators will also assist in recruitment of a wide diversity of drag performers and artists for various events throughout the year, including entertainment and social events, educational events, and more.

BEARBEQUE COORDINATOR 

Ideal volunteer:  A person who loves planning fun nightlife events, raising funds for a good cause, is comfortable with adult/mature themes and has a keen eye for organization and schedules. 

Description:  Bearbeque is an annual nightlife event benefiting the Charlotte Pride Scholarship Program. The event includes a catered barbeque meal, meet-and-greets with adult entertainers and several fundraising components, including event ticket sales, a silent auction, door prizes and merchandise. This coordinator will work closely with staff to plan, promote and staff the event.
