Emergency Community Relief
for Black Trans Women in Charlotte
Jaida Peterson and Remy Fennell should still be with us today. Their tragic deaths are the result of conditions that Black trans women face in Charlotte every day: homelessness and houselessness, unemployment and underemployment, workplace discrimination, housing discrimination, lack of access to gender-affirming healthcare, and more.
Equality North Carolina, Charlotte Pride, Campaign for Southern Equality, and Transcend Charlotte have committed $10,000 for the immediate emergency relief for Black trans women in Charlotte.
community members pitched in and raised an additional $10,500!
At this time, we aren’t accepting any further donations for this particular effort. Please stay tuned for other ways to give back and support the community.
Funds collected by each organization will be directed toward grassroots organizations offering direct services to Black trans women.
